HERITAGE LEAGUE'S 43rd ANNUAL HOLIDAY OF TREES EVENT

The Conference Office had been notified of this event because there was a Kaleo on the River tree sponsored by Sue Shear and Linda Statton (Sue’s sister).  They wanted to spread the news of Kamp Kaleo.  There also was the opportunity to shop at the boutique and stop and get a snack or lunch and sit and enjoy the beautiful trees, along with supporting a great organization. Below is the article that was written regarding Kamp Kaleo:

Bright and Beautiful                                  Kaleo on The River

In honor and celebration of Kamp Kaleo's 50th Anniversary, our tree is decorated in the bright and beautiful spirit of camping, creativity, faith and fun!  Since crafts are a favorite activity at camp, and tie-dye is an all-time favorite, we have included several handmade ornaments and a tie-dyed tree skirt.  Have you been to this peaceful place on the banks of the North Loup River?  If not, the many thousands of campers from the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Nebraska will tell you, the stars and sky really are brighter and more beautiful at Kamp Kaleo!

Here are more details regarding the Heritage League’s 43rd Annual Holiday of Trees event:

Heritage League held its only public fundraiser, the Holiday of Trees, on Thursday and Friday, December 3rd and 4th, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Boulevard, Lincoln, Nebraska.

Admission was only a $1, and tickets could be purchased at the door. Proceeds will go to Fresh Start, a transitional shelter that empowers homeless women to change their lives by recognizing and utilizing their strengths to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency.

There were 24 trees, decorated by community members and nonprofits; a café with foods donated and prepared by members; a boutique with handmade items and crafts; a pantry selling home-baked goods, jams and jellies; a room filled with attic treasures including books; and raffle items ranging from theme baskets to golf packages.

There was live music throughout the day, an art room for children to make gingerbread houses from 2-7 p.m., and a visit from Santa between 4 and 8 p.m.

The Nebraska Conference Office staff checked this event out!  Over to your right, along with other Kaleo on the River pictures, you can see the tree that Sue and Linda sponsored.  It was fantastic, thanks to Sue and Linda's talents!  Please enjoy the pictures!
